Overview

What major challenges is Navigator solving for you?

  1. You own your own data, and are given tools to leverage it, understand it and to make it work for you.

  2. You, your teachers and students gain a rapidly expanding research backed map of learning, and GPS-like tools that guide you.

  3. You join a community built tool, built by fellow schools, researchers, educators and even students to solve your very real challenges. By working together, every challenge solved is shared with the whole ecosystem to the benefit of everyone!

What is Navigated Learning (NL)

Learning is complex, learners are diverse, and ecosystems are intricate. Gooru understands that school districts are committed to equity and equal access to results. In order for schools to achieve excellence for all learners, regardless of their starting location, learning abilities, and cultural backgrounds, they need to have transparent insight into their students' knowledge gaps and strengths, portfolio of learning activities, and learning preferences. Once this is achieved all stakeholders in the learning ecosystem can make in-the-moment, data informed decisions because they will be able to see where each learner is in their knowledge, skills, and mindsets. Schools need stakeholders to have real-time data about their students’ efforts and outcomes, so that everyone in the learning community can best support efforts for strong learning outcomes for all students. Gooru’s Navigator course addresses this issue and bridges the distance between teachers, guardians, students, and administrators.

Navigator Courses Supplement Your Curriculum

Navigator Courses

Math Navigator brings together all of Gooru’s Navigator tools to create a Navigator course solution that supplements existing classroom curricula and practices to support complex knowledge and skill development. Math Navigator can be used with the existing curriculum and norms of the district and can be used for gap filling, review, and/or acceleration of learners. Learners move from 2nd to HS-grade math with a full spectrum of Common Core Standards aligned resources and assessments. No matter what grade learners are in, Math Navigator will generate an individualized pathway and provide highly curated, personalized suggestions to help each learner reach their math goals. With these tools all stakeholders in the school ecosystem can track student activities and growth and support them as appropriate.

Upcoming Navigator Courses

In the 2020-21 school year, ELA and Science Navigator courses will be added.

FAQ

What are the general implementation steps

  1. Roster Your Students, Teachers, and Administrators - Currently we offer onboarding users using single sign on with IMS Global OneRoster, ClassLink, Gmail, and WS Federation. Google Classroom and Clever Integrations are also coming soon.

  2. Locate Your Learner - We provide flexibility in your learners’ starting locations. Districts can use existing NWEA or other standardized test scores, create a quick diagnostic, allow for teacher input, or use an approximation based on grade level to provide the starting location for their users.

  3. Create or Access District Data Lake (Optional and at additional Costs) - Gooru can integrate with an already established district or school data lake or create one for you. This allows the raw data from a variety of 3rd party tools and apps to be gathered and analyzed in one tool, Mission Control. School districts can opt into this feature at no additional cost.

  4. Training Sessions - We recommend atleast two training sessions per year to our districts. Our first training session will give teachers and administrators an overview and understanding of Navigator tools and how to use them. The second training happens two weeks later to address questions, concerns, and explore how to get the most out of Navigator. Please note that due to the current pandemic, all training sessions are remote and conducted over video chat.

  5. Customize Navigator Learning Maps - Math Navigator has a built in scope and sequence that allows for Navigated Learning, but districts can choose to align our framework to their curriculum needs and standards. Districts can provide Gooru with their custom scope and sequence or choose from a publicly available option.

How do I roster my school, how can they log in?

Districts can begin to use the Navigator products by single sign on and roster integration through GMail, Classlink, OneRoster, or Google Classroom (upcoming).

What training and support do you provide?

We offer easy to understand training for administrators and teachers and in-depth training and resources, such as a How To Guide and support articles are available at any time on our website.

  • Week 1 - Project Kickoff work session

  • Week 2 - Project Plan is agreed on, resources are allocated

  • Week 3 - You prepare your roster of students, define your preferred Scope and Sequence, and if required your competency framework and content.
